Senior Structural Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (to be based in our Birmingham office) with a variety of skillsets to join our team.

Responsibilities as Senior Structural Engineer will include -

 

  • Management of a team of engineers and BIM technicians;

  • Liaising with and reporting to senior management in Head Office;

  • Managing overall team and project budgets;

  • Production of structural designs, primarily associated with cold formed steel and structural steel elements;

  • Contributing engineering expertise to building product and system development and third-party certification of building products and systems;

  • Exploring opportunities for new sales, and acquiring new clients;

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and consultants;

  • Providing design office support to production departments;

  • Assisting with drawing queries from Estimating Department and commercial staff on technical matters;

  • Ensuring compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems and with relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar team-leading role, with significant experience of structural steel and cold formed steel design;

  • Third-level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Civil/Structural Engineering;

  • Chartered Engineer, or as a minimum, working towards Chartership;

  • Experience with structural software such as Tedds and Masterseries, and proficiency in MS Excel;

  • Experience in working in BIM projects;

  • Excellent working knowledge of current Building Regulations, Eurocodes and British Standards;

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD.

 

Knowledge of and experience in the offsite construction industry would be very advantageous.

 

Structural Engineers

Applications for vacancies for structural engineers in both our Cork and Birmingham offices are now being accepted. These are excellent opportunities for ambitious and motivated engineers to join our team of experts in a challenging and exciting role.

 

Responsibilities as Structural Engineers include -

  • Production of structural designs primarily associated with cold formed steel and structural steel elements;

  • Production of technical details using AutoCAD/Revit;

  • Assisting Senior Structural Engineers as required;

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and consultants;

  • Providing design office support to production departments;

  • Assisting with drawing queries from Estimating Department and commercial staff on technical matters;

  • Ensuring compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems and with relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

 

To be considered for this exciting role you must have -

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role (experience of structural steel and cold formed steel design preferred but not essential);

  • Experience with structural software such as Tedds and Masterseries and proficiency in MS Excel would be advantageous;

  • 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Civil/Structural Engineering;

  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes;

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Revit.

 

Other attributes that may be taken into consideration -

  • Membership of Engineers Ireland and/or Institution of Structural Engineers and currently working towards a professional title (e.g. Chartered Engineer);

BIM Technicians

We are seeking to fill BIM Technician positions (Revit experience required) in both our Cork office and our Birmingham office. The successful candidate will be expected to become a key member of our team providing a variety of BIM and CAD services. Responsibilities as BIM Designer will include -

  •     Production of structural designs, primarily associated with cold formed steel and structural steel elements;

  •     Production of technical details using AutoCAD;

  •     Assisting Structural Engineers as required;

  •     Liaising with clients, contractors and consultants;

  •     Providing design office support to production departments;

  •     Assisting with drawing queries from Estimating Department and commercial staff on technical matters;

  •     Ensuring compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems and with relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

 

Minimum requirements:

  •     3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Civil/Structural Engineering;

Acoustic Engineer

Due to continued growth, and to provide an even better service for our clients, we are looking for an Acoustic Engineer to join our Building Physics team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analysing and interpreting the behavior of sound waves in different environments .

  • Providing guidance for compliance of 2D panellised and 3D modular/volumetric offsite construction systems with sound regulations.

  • Supporting Evolusion Structural design teams.

  • Supporting Evolusion Product Development teams.

  • Consult with construction engineers and architects regarding compliance with Building Regulations requirements.

  • Liaising with other team members - engineers, architects, management, administration - as necessary.

  • Carrying out and project managing sound tests and compiling reports on results.

 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of three years of experience in construction-related acoustic engineering .

  • A good understanding of building structures.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Technical Guidance Document E, Approved Document E and relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.

  • Degree or equivalent in Acoustics.

  • A familiarity with Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)/Offsite Construction technologies would be advantageous.

 

Quality Engineer

Due to our continued growth, Evolusion Innovation has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Auditing and Inspection Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of quality engineering duties, including the planning and conducting of compliance audits in accordance with the Construction Product Regulations, and construction site inspections in accordance with construction product installation assurance schemes.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct audits (desk-based or on clients' sites) in accordance with the Construction Product Regulations and ISO 9001 management systems;

  • Complete all chargeable work within the required budget and time-frame to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain business efficiency;

  • Ensure completion of all assigned work and relevant documentation in accordance with required procedures and standards to fulfill client expectations.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Third Level Degree (Level 8) in Engineering or Construction related discipline;

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a quality management, auditing or inspection role within the construction industry, with expertise of aggregate, ready mix concrete, precast concrete and asphalt production processes and conformity control;

  • Experience of auditing quality management and factory production control systems.

 

Desirable

  • Experience in positions with significant quality management system responsibility;

  • A proficient working knowledge of Euronorm construction standards;

  • Experience of compliance and auditing techniques;

  • A recognized QMS or Lead Auditor qualification.

 

Building Physics Technician

We currently have exciting openings for ambitious engineers with Building Physics expertise to join our busy and successful Building Physics Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Building Physics services to existing and new clients, and ideally will possess the following attributes:

  • Familiarity with the requirements of the Building Regulations and building energy analysis;

  • A working knowledge of DEAP and NEAP procedures;

  • BER and NDBER assessor qualification in Ireland (SEAI registration an advantage);

  • Experience in Condensation Risk Calculations and BuildDesk U software;

  • Background in construction related discipline such as Architect, Architectural Technician, Structural or Mechanical Engineers with first-hand experience (2 years min);

  • Working knowledge of CAD, with good ability to read, measure off, draw, develop details, import and export various file types etc required.

  • Good aptitude for mathematics and physics, ability to carry out U-value calculations, bridging factors, correction factors, and follow formulae from BS standards;

  • Good working knowledge of the building regulations in both Ireland (Part L and TGD L) and the UK (APD L1A and L2A);

  • General computer skills, (MS office, photo editing and graphics, sketch-up, 3D CAD / Revit is a plus).

Desirable but not essential:

  • Thermal modelling and/or Wufi Analyses qualification;

  • Dynamic Simulation Modelling (Design Builder) experience, including:

    • SBEM from 3D models

    • Overheating analyses

    • Daylighting analyses

    • Internal environment conditions analyses.

 

Fire Safety Engineer

Developers, contractors, builders, manufacturers - all can need help to get new and innovative building products and building systems on to the market place. To be marketable and sellable, building products and building systems need to be developed and certified as both "fit for purpose" and "suitable for use and conditions of use" as required by Building Regulations. The Evolusion Innovation Product Development Department provides that help.

 

The Product Development Department has responsibility for developing multiple different offsite building systems. These include both 2D panelised and 3D modular/volumetric building systems manufactured from concrete, light gauge steel, hot rolled steel and timber.

We work proactively with Third-Party Certification Bodies on behalf of our clients to Project Manage their path through the certification process and as a result we develop an all-encompassing understanding of every building system we project manage. In this role we review the building system, critique building details and advise Clients on changes to their building system as required.

A key component of this process is demonstrating compliance with all fire safety requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on UK and Ireland building regulations to Evolusion clients.

  • Support Evolusion Structural Engineering and Building Physics teams.

  • Provide technical advice to clients on Light Gauge Steel, modular and other innovative building systems and their ability to meet legislative requirements.

  • Project Management of testing on behalf of Clients. This includes Fire Testing, BS 8414 Testing, etc.

  • Supervise the construction of the test panels at the designated laboratories or the client's factory.

  • Witness the individual test in the designated laboratory (Ireland, UK or France).

  • Review test reports to ensure they are in line with client's expectations and requirements.

  • Produce test drawing packages required for each respective test.

  • Review and advise on Fire Test Details.

  • Develop innovative construction products and building systems for Evolusion clients to meet their brief.

  • Proactively engage and manage Client expectations at all time during projects.

  • Assist clients achieve certification of their products/building systems with the relevant certification bodies e.g. BBA, BOPAS, SCI and NSAI

  • Business development in Ireland and overseas of all parts of the Evolusion business.

  • Develop Intellectual Property within Evolusion.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Technical Guidance Document B, Approved Document B, and relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.

  • Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant post-graduate experience.

  • A familiarity with Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)/Offsite Construction technologies would be advantageous.

Sustainability Engineer

Evolusion Innovation Ltd is looking for a Sustainability Engineer to join our expanding sustainability team. The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of sustainability and Building Regulations assessments in the construction environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assisting BREEAM assessor in gathering, preparing and reviewing evidence for BREEAM assessments

  • Providing support for the production of planning statements and building relevant documentation like Home User Guise, Building user Guide and Building Logbook.

  • Verifying project designs to ensure they are in accordance with sustainability targets

  • Contributing to the production of reports, guidance notes and general communications with the design teams to ensure quality and standards are achieved / exceeded.

  • Delivering sustainability workshops, project design meetings and client meetings.

  • Assisting client in sustainability related consultant appointments

 

Minimum requirements:

  • 3rd level degree qualification in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Sciences or Construction-related degree

  • An understanding of Part L of the Building Regulations and SAP/SBEM

  • Excellent report writing skills;

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD.

  • Desire and ability to learn new technical skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

  • Genuine interest in sustainability
