Sustainability Engineer

We are looking for a Sustainability Engineer to join our expanding Building Physics Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering Energy Assessments (Part L Ireland and Part L1A UK) at project commencement/planning stage, design stage and completion.

  • Production of Energy Strategy/Statement documents outlining all inputs and outputs relating to Energy Assessments.

  • Verifying project designs to ensure they are in accordance with sustainability targets.

  • Contributing to the production of reports, guidance notes and liaising with the Design Team to ensure quality and standards are being achieved/exceeded.

  • Delivering sustainability workshops, project design meetings and client meetings.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • 3rd level degree qualification in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Sciences or Construction-related degree

  • Registered BER Assessor with SEAI

  • Extremely knowledgeable with full understanding of Part L of the Building Regulations and SAP/SBEM

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Experienced in the use of AutoCAD.

  • Knowledge of Building Fabric and Thermal Performance of Building Elements

  • Desire and ability to learn new technical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

  • Genuine interest in Sustainability.

 

Optional Advantageous Attributes:

  • Qualified SAP Assessor; registered with Stroma UK for Part L1A Assessments

  • Experience with IES VE Software

  • Knowledge of BREEAM or LEED Sustainability Consultancy Services

Sustainability Engineer

Structural Engineers

Applications for vacancies for structural engineers in both our Cork and Birmingham offices are now being accepted. These are excellent opportunities for ambitious and motivated engineers to join our team of experts in a challenging and exciting role.

 

Responsibilities as Structural Engineers include -

  • Production of structural designs primarily associated with cold formed steel and structural steel elements;

  • Production of technical details using AutoCAD/Revit;

  • Assisting Senior Structural Engineers as required;

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and consultants;

  • Providing design office support to production departments;

  • Assisting with drawing queries from Estimating Department and commercial staff on technical matters;

  • Ensuring compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems and with relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

 

To be considered for this exciting role you must have -

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role (experience of structural steel and cold formed steel design preferred but not essential);

  • Experience with structural software such as Tedds and Masterseries and proficiency in MS Excel would be advantageous;

  • 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Civil/Structural Engineering;

  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes;

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Revit.

 

Other attributes that may be taken into consideration -

  • Membership of Engineers Ireland and/or Institution of Structural Engineers and currently working towards a professional title (e.g. Chartered Engineer);

  • Experience in the offsite sector.

Structural Engineers

Construction Products Development Engineer

Job description

Developers, contractors, builders, manufacturers - all need help to get new and innovative building products and building systems on to the market place. To be marketable and sellable, building products and building systems need to be developed and certified as both "fit for purpose" and "suitable for use and conditions of use" as required by Building Regulations. The Evolusion Innovation Product Development Department provides that help.

The department has responsibility for developing multiple building systems and products. These include offsite construction/MMC panelised and modular building systems manufactured from light gauge steel, hot rolled steel, concrete, and timber.

​We work proactively with Third-Party Certification Bodies on behalf of our clients to Project Manager their path through certification processes and as a result we develop an all-encompassing understanding of every building system we project manage. In this role we review the building system, critique building details and advise clients on changes to their building system as required.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Conduct technical assessments on innovative construction products on behalf of certifying bodies.

  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on UK and Ireland Building Regulations to Evolusion clients.

  • Provide technical advice to clients on Light Gauge Steel, modular and other innovative building systems and their ability to meet legislative requirements.

  • Project Manage testing on behalf of Clients. This includes Fire Testing, Acoustic Testing, CWCT Testing, BS 8414 Testing, wall-tie testing.

  • Supervise the construction of test panels at the designated laboratories or the Clients factory.

  • Witness the individual test in the designated laboratory (Ireland, UK or France).

  • Review test reports to ensure they are in line with clients' expectations and requirements.

  • Develop innovative construction products and building systems for Evolusion clients to meet their brief.

  • Assist clients achieve certification of their products/building systems with the relevant certification bodies. BBA, BOPAS, SCI and NSAI

  • Assist in developing the Evolusion business in Ireland and overseas.

  • Contribute to the Evolusion brand and marketing strategy.

  • Develop Intellectual Property within Evolusion.

  • Plan and develop product development strategies for new and existing Clients.

Minimum requirements:

  • Honours degree in a relevant engineering discipline

  • 5 year's relevant experience

Autocad Technician

Due to continued growth, Evolusion Innovation is looking for an experienced (preferably more than 7 years) AutoCAD Technician to join our team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engagement with and providing services for all of our departments.

  • Liaising with clients.

  • Preparation of drawings and schedules.

  • Reviewing of submitted drawings and extraction of the necessary information required to complete the associated element of work.

  • Production of drawing registers and maintenance of in-house document control systems.

  • Liaising with other team members - engineers, architects, management, administration - as necessary.

  • Liaising with External Consultants as required.

  • Issuing drawings, documents and reports using a variety of different electronic platforms.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a structural design office .

  • High proficiency in AutoCAD.

  • A good understanding of building structures.

  • Familiar with CAD standards, Codes of Practice, and Document Control.

  • Knowledge of structural steel an advantage.
